Gani Adams, former Oodua Peoples Congress, OPC, leader has said people of the Yoruba extraction are ready to die in the pursuit of Oduduwa Republic .

Adams said some people of the Southwest are determined to pursue Oduduwa Republic.


Speaking in Lagos yesterday, the Aare Onakakanfo of Yorubaland, said the Southwest reserves the legitimate right to struggle for Oodua Republic. 

Gani Adams also lamented that the struggle has been hijacked by top politicians in the region.

“It is unfortunate that some people are determined to weaken the spirit of the agitators. Unfolding events in the last few weeks have shown that some prominent politicians have hijacked the struggle for the actualisation of the O’odua Republic.


“It is an attempt to distract us from the true and original intention of the struggle.


“But I want to say it here that the struggle to seek a new nation is the legitimate rights that we are determined to live and die for and we wouldn’t waiver in our beliefs and determination to liberate our race.”

OPC VS OPCI at Ikire, Irewole Local Government Area of Osun State

Two persons died  yesterday in Ikire, headquarters of Irewole Local Government Area of Osun State, when members of Odua Peoples Congress (OPC) and Odua Peoples Congress Initiative (OPCI) clashed. The Nation gathered the rival groups started their supremacy fight on Saturday, which led to some members sustain injuries till yesterday (Thursday) leaded to street fight and to  two people was confirmed dead in the battle.  It was learnt that the groups engaged in gun battles, creating tension in the town. Coordinator of OPC Osun State, Prince Deji Aladeshawe, confirmed the incident. In his words:  “The incident is true, one Olayode was reported killed on our side A(OPC) while one Wasiu was killed at the side of OPCI.” Special Adviser to Osun Governor on Security, Mrs. Abiodun Ige, stated that; the State Government has intervened and settled the matter with the help of police.
